Today was one of those days I drove home, eyes glued to the lines on the highway while my head throbbed and my mind, a blur.
It was one of those perplexing days when after mulling over a particular conversation in my head several times, I came to the realization that sometimes no matter how much effort we put into something to garner a positive result, there are still those people who will find fault with us even given our best intentions. And they continue to find fault seemingly week after week. Perhaps they become addicted to looking for and finding fault because they are incredibly disgruntled within. Poor creatures.
I have been putting my heart and soul into something for a long time now, giving as much focus, diligence, and determination into doing the best I can with it and then it hit me like a brick on the side of my skull this afternoon: No matter how hard I work my value is not going to be of recognition in this particular scenario, not ever.
So ... here's how I see it ... As [...]

Winter seems to have left us. However; we all know it can be rather surreptitious and bring snow back to New England at any given moment between now and May.
It can be a messy transition but one well worth the ups and downs; the damp cold of rain and sleet followed by days of seventy and eighty degree sunshine. And then Spring seems to strengthen her backbone and sends Mr. Winter packing for good for another year.
I, too, am packing.
Living out in such a rural setting of Connecticut has been warranted over the last 1.5 years, providing a quiet, gentle environment enriched with the soft chirping of birds, a choir of peepers to lull one to sleep on summer evenings, paths within the thickest woods to walk along for miles and gather and sort out thoughts. It has been a blessing for me to take stock in the direction of my life, to slow down and prioritize my goals after ending a 21 year marriage.
The change of seasons have led me to a comfortable place - a contented and peaceful place within. [...]

And you all thought I was going to journal about my recent travels to Giverny ... (A girl can dream, right?) The weather here in Connecticut has been rather bodacious these past weeks, looks like Spring is on its way.
I've been busy trying to keep up with various appointments, finishing up the most recent songs in prep for our trip to Nashville to record them (not quite an album but something a bit different this time around), and an overall 'sorting of goods,' both upstairs in my head as well as an attempt to organize closets, etc. Guess you might say I'm starting my Spring cleaning.
The last few weekends have been really enjoyable, especially given the fact that the weather has been cooperative for the most part. Once again, John made my weekend by surprising me and taking me on my first visit to Hillstead in Farmington, a beautiful well preserved estate made famous by Theodite Pope, a student of the renowned Miss Porter's School (also in Farmington) and quite an impressive, [...]

It's incredibly fulfilling making music with others, even upon meeting them for the first time. Guess I never realized it fully, and perhaps it's because I've always been a bit too close to it - but I feel whole and soulfully happy when writing songs, performing music, and painting. And it's always a bonus when doing so with good people around sharing the creative process.
I was fortunate to have met a fantastic group of guys this weekend, avid cyclists and from what I gathered upon meeting them, 'life enthusiasts' all around. The group included an array of talent; three guitarists and a way cool dj to boot, a versatile group to be sure.
As the evening progressed, a couple of guitars and song books were taken out and it wasn't long before the live music began. One of the things I enjoy most about making music is having garnered a true appreciation for when others are playing or performing. It was great sitting, listening, and tapping my foot along [...]
